Yup, this is very true! So many times we try to talk to or at God… but He’s more concerned about having a true conversation and relationship with us than our saying some fancy-sounding or “religious” prayer (Matt. 6:7 “But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.”) And sometimes He does use some interesting tactics to get our attention when we’re losing our focus! Thanks for the great reminder 😀
Grandma and I were about to leave after a fun visit with our kids and the three little granddaughters – I had been elected to say the “good night” prayer as they headed to bed, but something tickled the girls (surprise, surprise) and as they started cackling uncontrollably I scolded, “Girls! We’re still praying here!”
Then I realized that the infectious laughter had attacked their mother, too (my wonderful daughter-in-love) and that I was reacting like Spencer above, while God was trying to bless all our hearts in spite of my self! (Cf: Peter and the apostles’ skepticism as God released Peter – Acts 12:9-16)
HAHA! Very funny!
